Meet the Staff

Founder

My name is Jessica and I would like to take a minute or two of your time and tell you what Adventures in Camp is, and why I decided to develop and construct a teacher run, fun-filled summer day camp for children ages 4 -12.

It has been more than ten years ago that I spent months researching and attending meetings about opening up a certified youth camp. I fulfilled my dream by opening a facility that allows children to have an action- packed summer that they will remember for years to come. I do not want a huge facility where you are "just a face" but rather a "family feel" where you want to attend daily.

I feel this is what growing children need, a positive interaction with children their own age and caring counselors. Other camps may have hundreds of campers, but at Adventures in Camp, we have a close knit environment to ensure all of the campers get the feeling of safety and security while they have the most fun possible!

Now, I want to share some information about myself. I am an enthusiastic elementary school teacher who teaches in Prince George's County, Maryland. I received my Masters in Education, specializing in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University (Great school by the way!). Achieving my Masters not only helped me to enrich my instruction in the classroom, but this knowledge helps me in the summer time while I am in contact with the counselors and the children at Adventures in Camp.

Not only am I busy with camp, and teaching, I have a busy little family of my own. My own children come to camp, and love it! Camp has always been my first "baby", and now that I have my own children, all I can do is smile.
Thank you for making our camp, part of your family.

Counselors

All counselors at Adventures in Camp (AIC) are CPR certified, First Aid & Asthma trained, FBI & Maryland fingerprinted and have a clean background check from the CPS - Child Protection Service. Not to mention that the counselors are trained in camp's procedures, such as safety with indoor activities, outdoor activities, field trip and pool policies and procedures.

Each group will have a trained counselor who has a walkie- talkie in their possession for constant communication between groups and the director. This way, communication is immediate. If the counselor feels the schedule should to be changed in order to adapt to their group's interests, we can modify the schedule to fit everyone's needs, while making sure we know where everyone is at all times. Modifying the schedule will guarantee each child is given the ample opportunity to express their interests in a structured environment.

The counselors at AIC are there to ensure the fun and safety of your child during their stay with us. We want to make sure children have an action-packed, super fun, stimulating break from school. Their counselors are there to be their friend, a listener, and a positive influence on your child's life.
